Ryan Murphy

About

Ryan has been serving on active duty in the U.S. Navy since 2008 as a deep-sea diver, and found that the tempo of operating with the Navy’s special programs around the globe had left him strained and exhausted. While stationed on the tropical island of Guam in 2013, a friend recommended he add a yoga practice to his turbulent life to help gain more balance of mind. After beginning his yoga practice, Ryan developed a steadiness that helped calm his mind and body and build on both his physical and mental fitness. Ryan found that yoga perfectly combines mindfulness and energy, bringing peace that transcends all physical fitness activities. Due to work demands, trauma, and on-the-job injuries, almost a decade passed until Ryan rediscovered the peaceful balance Yoga provides him, and he decided to become a yoga teacher to share that peace with others. His teacher, Megan Mulrine of Yogatrotter Academy, provided extensive training and support, and Ryan become a certified Yoga instructor (RYT-200) in July of 2023. For Ryan, yoga supports a beautiful balance between mindfulness and health, and his classes are a playful blend of sweaty vinyasa flow with the calmness of tree pose, with plenty of humor woven in to put a smile on students’ faces.
