Sydney is an RYT 200, holds a Master’s Degree in Public Health, and is the founder of Wishing Well, an emerging nonprofit in CT. Looking back, her childhood painted a clear picture that she was meant to be a yoga teacher and to find unique ways to help people remember who they are.
Her story with yoga began when she was five years old, waking at 4am to practice along with the PBS station while the rest of the house was asleep. As she grew up, the mat was set aside. Sydney went to college as a pre-med student, hoping to make her parents proud, but she soon realized her heart was in caring for people on a larger scale. She pivoted to public health and earned her Master’s, devoted to helping communities live healthier lives.
Years later, she found her way back to yoga, this time as a way to be more flexible. But savasana started making her question the philosophy behind it all, and slowly she began to understand why five year old Sydney chose to show up every morning. Her curiosity led her to Bali, Indonesia, where she completed her 200 hour yoga teacher training with Yogatrotter Academy.
Today, Sydney teaches a mix of creative and foundational flows, finding the most magic in the stillness within each class. She is a Reiki practitioner and is training to become a breathwork teacher. Her nonprofit brings her two worlds together, using her public health expertise while drawing on the philosophy and magic of yoga to build community and make wellness accessible to all in every way that matters.
Off the mat, Sydney loves writing poetry, spending time in nature, learning something new via podcast and hanging out with her 4 cats. Catch her on Instagram or follow along her nonprofit journey at @wishingwellinc
In Sydney’s classes, you are always welcome to take what you need, even if that means resting in savasana from start to finish.
