Come join us in community to read and discuss one of yoga’s most illustrious texts, the Bhagavad Gita (Bha-ga-vad Gita).
This workshop series offers a deep dive into this ancient text and all its many teachings of yoga.
The story takes place on the battlefield Kurukshetra where there is both an internal and external battle being fought. The great warrior Arjuna is facing an opposing force of his dear family members and esteemed teachers and does not know how he will be able to proceed. Arjuna is the archetype of the spiritual person in action and yet, he is confused by what life has laid in front of him. The Gita extends a hand to us from past eons with commentary on the nature of life and common threads of humanity. As Eknath Easwaran puts it, ” these works are among the earliest and most universal of messages…sent to inform us that there is more to life than the everyday experience of our senses.”
Each workshop will include time for reading and discussion of the text along with an active yoga practice to implement the teachings. Each month, different practices will be explored including postures, mantras, mudras, chanting and meditation. All levels of experience are welcome.
The recommended translation is “The Bhagavad Gita: A Classic of Indian Spirituality” 2nd edition by Eknath Easwaran (so we are all on the same page).

Trish Reyburn, E-RYT500 is the founder of Blissworks Yoga & Healing Arts, established in 2004.
Trish took her first yoga class in 1995, at a time when she was looking for new direction in her life. And through the years she explored different types of yoga and yoga teachers and finally found her niche in an alignment-based practice. She received her first yoga certification from the Kripalu Center for Yoga & Health in 2000 and was certified Anusara-Inspired in 2009.
Although based in alignment, Trish’s classes range from challenging to slow and contemplative. She believes that yoga is an empowering practice that can help anyone advance on their path to self-knowledge, and that it is not important the level of poses that one achieves but rather the attitude one cultivates wherever they find themselves.
