POP UP: Full Moon Slow Flow with Kim

Join Kim in Chandra Namaskar, Moon Salutations, to welcome this year’s Strawberry Moon. Moon Salutations focuses mainly on the lower body and is more gentle, meditative, and restorative than its counterpart Sun Salutations. This class will also use a short journaling exercise as releasing things that no longer serve us will be part of this practice.

In Slow Flow Yoga, participants will practice about half of the number of poses that a typical Vinyasa class does because poses are held for several rounds of breaths. The pacing of this class emphasizes calmness and peace in the body and mind. Class will begin with a joint-freeing series to help mobility and range of motion. This class will help participants with flexibility, balance, and strength. This class is great for all levels, even beginners.

Meet Kim Thibeau:

Kim grew up locally and began her spiritual journey 13 years ago when she found the writings of Thich Nhat Hanh, which brought her to meditation. After the death of her father in 2017, she needed something in addition to meditation to help with her grief and health. Later that summer, she found an advertisement for Breathe for Change, a 200-YTT program designed especially for educators that included social-emotional training. She wrote a Fund for Teachers grant and the following summer in the NYC summer heat, she went through the most life-changing, challenging, eye-opening experience with 100 other educators. In this training, Kim noticed big changes in her body and state of mind. That fall after noticing that her students needed more peace and peace of mind, she brought meditation to her senior English classes … and THEY WERE HOOKED! And so was she. After meditating on things and hearing the feedback from her students, Kim set aside her goal of becoming a school administrator in favor of pursuing more yoga, spiritual, healing, and meditation courses because she knew that she was meant to help people through teaching them to find themselves and help themselves beyond her classroom walls.

Kim earned her 500 hour certification in Yoga Therapy and Therapeutics last year, which included Chair Yoga certification and Level I Trauma-Informed Yoga certification. Kim is currently the only certified Ganja Yoga teacher in Connecticut. She is also a certified Level II Holy Fire Reiki practitioner.

Kim provides a comforting and welcoming space for students of all levels to explore their own practice, believing that each person’s yogic and spiritual journey is unique and sacred to them. As it reads in The Bhagavad Gita, “Yoga is the journey of the self, through the self, to the self.”

She is currently taking an Akasha course and will be starting a course in The Art and Science of Herbalism in the near future.
